Smoking Restriction Amendment Act

The DC Council recently passed the Smoking Restriction Amendment Act (SRAA) of 2013, which restricts smoking at:

bus stops
playgrounds
parks
dog parks
trails
swimming pools
neighborhood recreational centers
other public facilities owned or maintained by the District of Columbia

Second hand smoke accounts for about 49,000 adult deaths per year. SRAA of 2013 represents an important opportunity to reduce the exposure to second hand smoke in our community.

The Community Wellness Alliance (CWA) through a contract with the DC Department of Health Comprehensive Cancer Control Program is convening an implementation planning committee to ensure the SRAA of 2013 is put into action.
